Wang Geon, also known as Taejo, was a military leader who founded the Goryeo dynasty in 918 CE. He brought together the divided kingdoms of the Korean peninsula under one rule.

왕건은 태조라고도 불리며, 918년에 고려 왕조를 세운 군사 지도자예요. 분열되어 있던 한반도의 여러 나라를 하나로 통합했어요.

Wang Geon married many women from powerful local families across the country as a political strategy to keep peace and unite the peninsula — he had 29 queens and concubines in total.
