Gojong was the ruler of Korea in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He began as the king of the Joseon Dynasty and later became the first emperor of the Korean Empire.
고종은 1800년대 후반부터 1900년대 초반까지 한국을 다스린 군주예요. 조선의 왕으로 시작해 나중에 대한제국의 초대 황제가 되었어요.

Gojong secretly sent representatives to the 1907 Hague Peace Conference in the Netherlands to appeal for Korea's independence, even though the mission was ultimately unsuccessful.
