Jeong Yak-yong (Dasan)

Jeong Yak-yong, known by his pen name Dasan, was a scholar and thinker of the late Joseon Dynasty in the late 1700s and early 1800s. He lived and worked in Korea during a time of great social change.

정약용은 호를 '다산'이라고 했으며, 1700년대 후반부터 1800년대 초반 조선 후기의 학자이자 사상가였어요. 사회적으로 큰 변화가 일어나던 시기에 살았어요.

Dasan spent about 18 years in exile far from his home, yet he used that time to write many of his most important books.
