Cleopatra VII was the queen of ancient Egypt, ruling from around 51 BCE until her death in 30 BCE. She was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt.

Although Cleopatra is famous as an Egyptian queen, she was actually of Greek descent — her family came from a Greek general who ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great.
