Three astronauts blast off to live in space for eight months

Did you know? Right now, people are living in space. Three astronauts recently left Earth to join them.

A spacecraft called Soyuz took off from Kazakhstan. Inside were three crew members. Two were cosmonauts from Russia. One was an astronaut from the United States. They were heading to a very special place—the International Space Station, or ISS.

The International Space Station is a large home in space. It circles the Earth. Scientists and astronauts live and work there. They do experiments. They study how space affects our bodies. They also learn about Earth from high above.

This mission will last eight months. That is a long time to stay in space! The three explorers will not go home for many months. They will work together with other crew members already on the station. Everyone works as a team.

The journey itself is interesting too. The Soyuz spacecraft is very safe. Astronauts and cosmonauts have used it for many years. The trip to the station takes about three hours. It is a fast ride to space!

Working in space is difficult and brave. Astronauts train for years before they go. They learn how to work when there is no gravity. They practice inside special water tanks. They study science and machines. When they finally arrive at the station, they are ready.

This mission shows that countries can work together. American and Russian explorers travel on the same spacecraft. They share the same space station. Space exploration brings people together.
