인터넷 스타 개구리, 멸종 위기에 처하다

Have you ever heard a frog sound like a toy? One tiny frog became an internet star for exactly that reason. Its cute squeaky call charmed millions of people online. But now, this beloved amphibian faces a serious threat: extinction.

The squeaky frog species was recently added to the global list of endangered animals. This official list tracks creatures around the world that are running out of time. Scientists study these animals carefully to understand what is happening to them. The news surprised many internet fans who had only known the frog as a funny, viral sensation.

What caused this problem? Habitat loss is the biggest threat. The frog lives in specific rainforest areas, and these forests are shrinking fast. Trees are cut down for farming, logging, and building. When the forest disappears, the frog has nowhere to live and nothing to eat. This is true for thousands of species, not just this one frog.

Climate change makes the situation worse. Frogs are extremely sensitive to temperature changes and moisture levels. They breathe through their skin, so pollution and dry air directly harm them. Scientists have noticed that some frog populations are moving to higher areas in forests, searching for cooler, wetter places. This migration shows how stressed these animals truly are.

The journey from viral celebrity to endangered species is surprisingly common in nature. When an animal becomes famous online, people often feel more interested in protecting it. Sometimes this attention helps. Zoos and conservation groups can raise money and awareness. However, real protection requires action on the ground: protecting forests, creating nature reserves, and changing how we use land.

Conservation experts say there is still hope. If enough people care about this frog and others like it, we can slow the damage. Some countries have created protected areas where frogs can live safely. Scientists are also studying how to help endangered amphibians breed in captivity, just in case.

The squeaky frog's story teaches us something important. Every viral moment online connects to a real animal living in a real place. That place is fragile and shrinking. The frog's cute sound attracted millions of people to the internet. Now, perhaps that same attention can help save its species in nature.
