트럼프의 'SI' 용어, 슬로베니아 도메인 수요 폭발

The internet does not always work the way we expect. Sometimes a simple word choice causes a chain of surprising effects. This happened recently when one influential person's suggestion changed how people think about internet domains.

A United States president proposed a new name for artificial intelligence. Instead of calling it AI, he wanted people to use the term SI — short for 'super intelligence.' This sounds like a reasonable idea. The new name emphasizes speed and power. Many people in technology listened to this suggestion.

But something unexpected happened next. People noticed that SI is also the internet domain suffix for Slovenia. Every website in Slovenia ends with .si. When the new term SI began to spread through news and social media, domain registrars in Slovenia received an enormous wave of new requests. People wanted to buy Slovenian domain names because they could now represent super intelligence in a technical way.

This created what industry experts called 'unprecedented' demand — meaning it had never happened before. The registrars had to work very hard to handle all the new orders. Some people bought these domains hoping they could use them for AI-related companies or projects. Others simply wanted to own a piece of this sudden trend. It became a kind of internet phenomenon — not because of careful planning, but because of a simple coincidence.

The story teaches us something important about how connected the modern internet is. A single powerful voice can influence millions of people instantly. A new word can travel around the world in hours. And a small country's domain suffix can suddenly become valuable for reasons no one predicted. Slovenia's internet authorities never expected their country code to become trendy because of a president's vocabulary choice.

This is not the first time something like this has happened on the internet. Small words, product names, and country codes have become valuable or popular because of unexpected events. But it remains surprising every time it occurs. The digital world moves so fast that even experienced professionals cannot always predict what will happen next.

The demand for Slovenian domains has already begun to slow down. But this event will probably be remembered as a curious moment when words, technology, and chance created something no one planned.
