Lost baby turtle flies thousands of miles from Wales to Texas

Imagine finding a tiny turtle on a cold beach in Wales. Kemp's ridley sea turtles live in warm water near the Caribbean Sea. One turtle did not stay home. It washed up on a beach in Wales — thousands of miles from where it belonged.

Wales is very cold for sea turtles. These turtles need warm water to live. When people found this turtle, it was sick and weak. The animal needed help fast.

Scientists and helpers made a plan. They could not leave the turtle in Wales. The cold water would hurt it. So they decided to fly the turtle home. The turtle traveled by airplane from Wales to Texas. Texas is closer to the Caribbean Sea. The journey was long, but the turtle was safe.

When the turtle arrived in Texas, kind people helped it again. They checked that the turtle was healthy. Then they took it to the warm ocean. The turtle could finally swim home to the Caribbean Sea.
