Nirmal Purja dies in Pakistan avalanche

Do you know what it takes to climb the world's highest mountains? One mountaineer showed us something amazing in 2019.

Nirmal Purja was a climber from Nepal. He had a big dream. He wanted to climb all 14 of the world's highest mountains. These mountains are very, very tall. They are in Asia. Climbing even one of them is dangerous and very hard.

Purja did something nobody had done before. He climbed all 14 mountains in just over six months. Most climbers need years to do this. He did it in months! People all around the world heard about his record. Climbers called him brave. Many people watched his climb on social media.

Climbing these mountains is risky. The cold is extreme. The air has very little oxygen. Avalanches can happen at any time. An avalanche is when snow and ice fall down the mountain very fast. It is very dangerous.

Purja died in an avalanche in Pakistan. He was climbing a mountain called Nanga Parbat. His company told the news. His family and friends were sad. The climbing world lost a brave man.

Purja's record will stay in history. He showed us that humans can do amazing things. But he also showed us that mountains are powerful. We must always respect nature.
