Actors demand law to stop AI from copying your voice

Imagine hearing your own voice come from a movie. But you never recorded that movie. Sounds strange, right? This could happen to you soon. Technology can now copy anyone's voice.

Famous actors in Britain want to stop this. Matt Lucas and Hugh Bonneville are two of them. They asked the government to make a new law. This law would protect people's voices. Everyone would have the right to own their voice.

What does "own your voice" mean? It means your voice is yours. No one can use it without your permission. A company cannot copy your voice to make money. An AI cannot copy your voice for a movie.

Why is this important now? AI is becoming very powerful. It can copy voices with just a few seconds of audio. It can sound exactly like a real person. Many people worry about this. Bad people could use fake voices to trick others.

The actors think a new law is the answer. The law would say: your voice is your property. If someone copies your voice, they need your permission first. If they use it without permission, they break the law.

Other countries are thinking about this too. Some places already have small protections. But there is no complete law yet. Britain could be the first.

This is not just about famous people. Any person could have their voice copied. A young student. A business owner. An elderly person. Everyone needs protection.

What do you think? Should the law protect voices? Would you want your voice to be yours and yours alone?
