Imagine walking on a beach and seeing thousands of turtles. This actually happened at La Escobilla beach in Mexico. In just 48 hours, thousands of sea turtles came to the beach together.

Why do turtles come to this beach? Female turtles swim to the beach to lay their eggs. They dig holes in the sand and put their eggs inside. Then they leave the eggs. Baby turtles will hatch from the eggs months later.

But why did so many turtles come at the same time? Scientists call this a "mass nesting." Many turtles arrive together — sometimes thousands in a few days. This is very special. It does not happen often.

This beach in Oaxaca is a safe place for turtles. Workers protect the beach. They watch the eggs and keep them safe. Predators cannot hurt the eggs here. Without this protection, many eggs would not survive.

Why is this good news? Sea turtles face many problems in the ocean. People catch them in fishing nets. Plastic pollution hurts them. Climate change warms the water. But when turtles come to protected beaches like La Escobilla, more babies can be born. More babies mean the turtle population grows stronger.

The workers at the beach are very happy. They see mass nestings as a sign. It tells them their work is helping. The turtles are coming back.

Have you ever seen something rare in nature? What do you think gives these turtles the signal to come to the beach all at once?
