Tokyo's busy Shibuya area is now punishing people who throw trash on the streets

Shibuya is a very famous area in Tokyo, Japan. Many people visit this place every day. Some tourists and local people throw trash on the streets. This is a big problem.

Now Tokyo has a new plan. Officials will walk around Shibuya. They will watch for people who litter. If someone throws trash on the street, they must pay a fine. The fine is money that you must give as punishment.

Many officials will patrol the area. Patrol means to walk around and watch a place. These officials will check the streets every day. They want to stop littering. They want to keep Shibuya clean and nice.

Why is this important? Shibuya has too many visitors. This is called overtourism. Overtourism means too many tourists visit one place. When many people visit, there is much more trash. The streets become dirty. The area does not look good.

Japan wants to protect this famous place. Clean streets are important for visitors. Clean streets are also important for the people who live there. The new fine rule helps solve this problem.
