Your voice is unique. It is like your fingerprint. Now, artificial intelligence can copy voices. This is a real problem. One political leader in Italy decided to do something. She protected her own voice.

Giorgia Meloni is the Prime Minister of Italy. She sent a small audio file to the European Union. The file was only four seconds long. In this file, she said words in her own voice. Why did she do this? She wanted to protect her voice from deepfakes.

What is a deepfake? A deepfake is a fake audio or video. Artificial intelligence creates it. The fake sounds like a real person. It looks like a real person. But it is not real. Someone made it on a computer. Deepfakes can be dangerous. They can spread false information. They can hurt people's names and reputations.

Meloni's idea is interesting. She filed her voice as an official trademark. A trademark is something that belongs to one person or company. When you register a trademark, the law protects it. Now, her voice is protected by law. Other people cannot use her voice for fake videos without permission.

This is new. Most people do not protect their voices this way. But more people might do it in the future. Deepfake technology is getting better and faster. Protecting your voice might become normal. You might need to register your voice someday, just like a signature.

The European Union is watching this idea. They want to understand it better. They want to know if it works. If it works well, other countries might copy this idea. Your voice could become your most important thing to protect.
