녹아가는 얼음, 그린란드로 들어오는 고래들

Did you know that giant whales are visiting Greenland in larger numbers than ever before? This is not a random event. It is happening because of climate change.

For many years, thick ice covered the water around Greenland. This ice made it very hard for whales to swim and find food. But now the ice is melting. The water is becoming open and warm. Whales can now reach areas they could not reach before.

When whales arrive in these new waters, they are hungry. They come to eat. Small fish and shrimp live under the ice. There are millions of them. When the ice disappears, the whales can eat these small animals easily. Scientists call this a "feeding frenzy." The whales eat a lot in a short time.

This change is interesting but also sad. The whales benefit from the open water. However, the open water exists only because ice is melting. Arctic ice is very important for the Earth. When it melts, polar bears, seals, and many birds lose their homes. The ocean becomes warmer. This affects fish everywhere on Earth.

Scientists watch these whales carefully. They want to know how whales adapt to new homes. They also study what happens to other Arctic animals. Change is coming to the North. Whales are only the first animals we notice.
