Even camels struggle as Africa gets dangerously hot

Did you know? Even animals that love hot places have limits. In Africa, camels are now facing something new—heat so strong that it is changing their lives.

Camels are famous animals. People call them ships of the desert. They can walk for many days without water. They are built for hot, dry places. But now, the temperatures in Africa are rising faster than ever before. The heat is different now. It is extreme.

Herders are the people who take care of camels. They move with their animals from place to place. These herders tell a sad story. The camels are sick more often. They cannot find enough food. The plants die in the heat. Without plants, the camels get weak. Some animals die.

The problem is simple but serious. The world is getting warmer. Africa is getting hotter faster than other places. When it gets too hot, animals cannot live well. Camels need shade and water. But now, even the water places are drying up. The ground gets hard and cracked.

Experts study this problem. They watch the camels and the weather. They talk to the herders. Everyone agrees—something must change. The heat is not normal anymore. It is dangerous.

This story shows us something important. No animal is built for every kind of heat. Even the animals we think are super strong have problems now. The heat is a big challenge for Africa. It is a challenge for camels. It is a challenge for the people who depend on them.

What do you think will happen to these animals? How can people help?
