Did you know your home heating system could cut your electricity use almost in half? That is exactly what heat pumps do.
A heat pump is a machine that keeps your home warm in winter and cool in summer. But it does not work like old heating systems. Old furnaces burn fuel to make heat. Heat pumps are different. They move heat from outside air into your home when it is cold. In summer, they move heat outside to cool your home. This method uses much less energy than burning fuel.
Why is this happening now? Because America wants to use cleaner energy. Burning fuel for heat makes pollution. Heat pumps use electricity instead. If your electricity comes from wind or sun, your home stays warm with almost no pollution.
The numbers are surprising. Last year, almost half of all new homes in America used heat pumps. Ten years ago, very few homes had them. Now they are becoming normal. Building companies choose heat pumps because they save money and help the planet.
Heat pumps work even in cold weather. Many people thought they only worked in warm places. That was wrong. New heat pumps can warm homes when outside temperature is very low. This means more people can use them everywhere in America.
So why should you care? Heat pumps are cheaper to run than old systems. Your family will pay less money for heating and cooling. At the same time, you help the Earth. This is a win for your wallet and for our world.
