Blue plaque honors Paddington creator Michael Bond

Do you know there is a bear named Paddington? He is one of the most loved characters in the world. Today, people remember the woman who created him.

A blue plaque was put on a house. This house is in England. The woman who lived here made Paddington. Her name was Michael Bond. She wrote stories about a small bear from Peru. The bear came to London. He had many adventures.

Many people came to see the blue plaque. They were happy. Some people were old friends. They had not seen each other for many years. The chairman of the Haslemere Society said it was a special day. He said, "Friends were reunited."

Paddington is famous all over the world. Children read his stories. Families watch movies about him. He wears a blue coat and a red hat. He loves marmalade sandwiches. People love him because he is kind and brave.

Why do we put blue plaques on old houses? Blue plaques mark important people. They mark important places. The plaque tells people: someone special lived here. Someone special made wonderful things here. When you walk down the street, you can read the plaques. They tell the history of your town.

This plaque is special because Paddington made millions of people happy. He made children smile. He made adults smile. A small bear changed the world. Now his home has a blue plaque. It will stay there for many years. Everyone who walks by will know: this is where Paddington was born.
