🤔 Big Question

How does a city rebuild itself: . after being divided in two?

Picture a grand stone arch sitting in the middle of a no-man's-land, visible from both sides of a divided city, reachable from neither. That was the Brandenburg Gate for twenty-eight years: . and that single act compressed an entire history into a moment. Berlin rebuilt its identity not by forgetting, but by insisting on remembering. Memorials, museums, fragments of the Wall left standing on street corners. So here is the question: when a city is torn in two and put back together, does it ever fully heal — or does the scar become part of who it is?

🧠 Thinking Lab

Berlin spent twenty-eight years divided by a wall. Korea has been divided for over seventy years. Both divisions happened as a result of outside political forces, not the will of the people involved. Do you think reunification in Korea would feel like the Berlin moment, a sudden, emotional breakthrough — or would it be more complicated? What would make it harder?
